A Phoenix from the Ashes

  Dave Ellison, W7UUU, has been a been a very active ham for over forty-seven years. In October 2020 a terrible fire destroyed his 3-car garage building that served as his shack, shop, and man cave. Virtually nothing could be saved.

  Over the course of 2021, the building was completely rebuilt and brought back to life better than ever before. He learned many important lessons about fire prevention, escape considerations, and overall shack design. Most of these ideas can be applied effectively for almost any ham shack, whether existing or being considered.

  At the March 10, 2022 meeting, Dave showed us how he created a new space like “A Phoenix from the Ashes.”
