Huge crowd gathers at the golf course

Hams and fans convened at the Indian Creek Golf Club on December 11 for the annual MARS Christmas Party. MARS President Tom Brewer, K5MET, welcomed the guests then David Gilpin, K5GIL, captured the audience with his recitation of Gary Pearce’s (KN4AQ) “A Ham Radio Operator’s Night Before Christmas.”
But food and culture were not the only attractions. Santa and Ms. Claus were on hand, keeping a list and checking it twice. The highlight of the evening came when the usual assortment of quality door prizes, including HTs, books and other ham gear, were distributed to the lucky winners. Kevin Grantham, N5KRG, took home the grand raffle prize, a Kenwood TM-V71A dual-bander.
Plans are in the works for next year’s party tentatively scheduled for December 10, 2015. Meanwhile, please check out some snapshots of the night’s festivities.
