The Metrocrest Amateur Radio Society is an active radio club. We have many activities throughout the year related to a variety of ham radio interests.
Hams & Eggs by Remote
The dining room of our beloved Whataburger on the tollway is open for now. Drive-through is also available, so if you wish, you can pick up your favorite breakfast at the window. Better yet, stay at home and scramble your own eggs.
*Want to be NCS for the Saturday H & W Net? Let Dave Lane, N5GDL, know.
Each Saturday at 10:00 AM CT, MARS will host a Health & Welfare Net on our 145.21 repeater (offset -600 kHz; tone 110.9). This will be a semi-controlled net. There will be a net control but it’s informal and open-ended. We want to know that you and yours are safe, and if there is anything another member can do for you.
And you can share the radio projects or other fun things you’ve found to do. You might give someone a good idea.
As always, please follow appropriate Repeater Etiquette. Until then, we’ll see you Saturday (or any other day) on the radio.

Winter Field Day 2021
January 30–31, 2021
This year, the rules have changed. Since MARS has no plans for a group event, individual operators can specify a club in their logs. In the CLUB: field, type “METROCREST ARS” no quotes; ALL CAPS. This is the same procedure we used for ARRL Field Day last June.
Please go here to download the all the rules (PDF). For more info about WFD go to https://www.winterfieldday.com/
In 2020, MARS joined the Irving Amateur Radio Club and the Dallas Amateur Radio Club using the special event call, K5T. The three-club event earned a rating of 53 with 5097 points. Go here for more details.
